This week I am gonna talk a little bit about my favorite serial killer movie Se7en. It is one of my favorite David Fincher movies (probably next to Fight Club) that is very dark and stylized. It follows the story of and up and coming detective and a retiring one, working together on a couple of cases that at first appear to be unrelated. They then piece together that all of the murders are related to the seven deadly sins. After five bodies are found the killer (Kevin Spacey) then turns himself in with the promise to show them the last two bodies (sins), which he dose not disappoint. Lets start off with a ton of trailers first...











Alright now back to the movie. First off this movie has an all star cast, which one of the main actors is not listed, during the opening credits (scored by a remix of Closer by Nine Inch Nails). Brad Pitt is in his rise to super stardom, Morgan Freeman is at the top of his game (as always) and Kevin Spacey is just outstanding as a psychopathic monotone killer. I mostly enjoy the look and feel of all of Fincher's movies especially this one, the look and feel to it is very dark and real. I could (although very hard to pull off) see something like this actually taking palace. Not really sure what else to say but if you have never seen this movie deffinately check it out. I guess in honor of valentines day this weekend I am gonna talk about Sixteen Candles. It is one of John Hughes high school romantic comedies about a girl that only wants one thing for her sweet sixteen, and it seems like everything is standing in her way. There is a great performance from a young Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall as The Geek. I'm gonna keep this post short and sweet but first some trailers...




I really hope this movie is gonna be part of the Midnight Movie lineup.

I don't have a whole lot to say about the movie this week besides that it is great. It was a standout movie from the directorial debut of John Hughes who also wrote the script and went on to write a ton of other teen comedies. There are a ton of hilarious bits of dialog and just about every embarrassing thing that could happen to Molly Ringwald pretty much does. I did love the small role that John Cusack played and the "cameo" by his sister Joan Cusack. Not really sure what else to say other that this is a stereotypical 80's teen comedy and is a must see. Well anyways here are a couple of scenes that are notable.

...and to make a long story short...

This week I am gonna talk a little about a well known board game turned movie called Clue. Basically it's about a group of people brought to a house for a dinner party only to discover that they are all being blackmailed by the same person, Mr. Boddy. He gives them all weapons and instructs them to kill the butler, Wadsworth(Tim Curry) when he turnout the lights. When the lights turn back on Mr. Boddy is dead, the guests then spend about the next 45 minutes trying to figure out which one of them is the killer. Having said all that lets check out the trailers...






Okay seriously they need to play all these movies (the first two the third is currently playing) soon!

First off I just wanted to state that this was the first and to my knowledge the only movie to be made based on a board game. It has been about ten years since I have seen this movie and it was great to see it with a mostly full theater. My big wonder about this movie is if it would hold up and stand the test of time, and it does. I still thought that this movie was hilarious, John Landis can definitely write a good comedy. All of the fast talking dialog and running around while trying to figure out whodunnit is a great and original premise that has never been matched. I thought that eventhough the film is intentionally hillarious it does actually build a little tension while everyon is trying to figure out whodunnit. There is a decent body count in the film yet very little is actually seen. Lastly I think that the slapstick in this is done very well and not too over the top. One thing I did want to say was that when I have seen this movie I always remembered the multiple endings, but the teatrical version that I saw was only the main ending. (it left me a little disapointed) Overall I think this is a very good 80's comedy that has definatly held up fairly well, anyways here are a couple of interesting sceens to check out.
