It's funny how the colors of the real world only seem really real when you viddy them on the screen.

This week I seen one of my all time favorite movies, A Clockwork Orange. It came out a little bit before my time so I was really excited to finally see it theatrically. It definitely tops my list as my favorite Kubrick film and one of Malcolm McDowell's best performances. If you don't know it is about a charismatic delinquent, Alex DeLarge (Malcolm McDowell) is jailed and later volunteers for an experimental aversion therapy developed by the government in an effort to solve society's crime problem... but not all goes to plan. (thanks IMDb) Lets first start with some trailers ...

Yet again Boogie Nights.

Let's go on a voyage for the Holy Grail.

And lastly the return of a Professional Wrestler.

Alright back to the movie, to start out I love the dialog. It is a made up slang that is the same as the book. It only took me a few minutes in the movie on my first viewing to understand what most of the slang meant. I would love to say that it is pretty quotable but I'm pretty sure that a bunch of people might not understand what the hell you are saying. I know that the book talked about it as well but I did enjoy how the classical music was used whenever they showed a little bit of the old ultra-violence. I know that it is supposed to take place in the near future but I thought that this movie had a distinct 70's feel to it. Also I'm not sure if it was just Kubrick but this movie is very sexual, not just the nudity but the artwork as well. I thought it was a little ironic that Alex happened to run into everyone that he had wronged immediately after hew was "cured". He was rescued by Dim and Georgie from getting beaten by bums to only be tortured more, then seeks refuge at the house where the beat a man an raped is wife. Lastly I really enjoy the book by Anthony Burgess, and I wish that the movie didn't end when it did and had the last chapter from the book. Also there were a few things that were cut from the book for the movie, but I don't think that it took anything away from the movie. Here's a few interesting scenes ...

There was me, that is Alex, and my three droogs, that is Pete, Georgie, and Dim, and we sat in the Korova Milkbar trying to make up our rassoodocks what to do with the evening. The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

The psychedelic Korova Milkbar.

I wish there were bars that actually looked like this.

Best gang fight next to The Warriors. "Lets get 'em boys!"
Photobucket

"Singing in the Rain" a great song to sing while doing a little bit of the old ultra-violence.

Hello, Lucy. Had a busy night? We've been working hard, too. Pardon me, Luce.

Is it just me or is this an extremely gay moment?

You see that ... 2001 A Space Odyssey soundtrack.

Great interrogation technique.
Photobucket

An interesting experiment.

Alex is cured, but no one wants him. All he can think about now is to snuff it.
Photobucket

I jumped, O my brothers, and I fell hard but I did not snuff it, oh no. if I had snuffed it, I would not be here to tell what I have told.

It's kinda romantic in a sick kind of way.

Last week I said that I would be back in two weeks but I seen a movie this weekend that I had to talk about, unfortunately it wasn't a midnight midnight movie or a older flick but it was in 3D. (that makes it okay by me) If you didn't know or was living under a rock for the last couple of months you know what it was, (No it wasn't Bolt) I had a chance to see My Bloody Valentine.

Photobucket

It was my first movie I have yet to see in 3D and I enjoyed just about every moment of it. I can't wait for the next couple of horror flicks to be in 3D and I hope because of this it does make some sort of resurgence. Okay on to the actual film I thought that it was done fairly well, most of the shots were framed to accentuate the 3D effect. The only problem I had were that a few camera shots looked different and had a shot for TV feel to them. the only drawback that I had watching this movie is that the basic story for this sticks to the original fairly well, so from the opening credits I knew exactly who the killer was. There was a few twists and turns to try and throw you off a little bit but in the end it turns around and is faithful to the original. There are even a handful of death scenes that were ripped directly from the original movie, and it didn't even bother me. I seen it as paying homage to the original movie. If you haven't seen the original My Bloody Valentine check it out, there was a Special Edition released earlier this week with a couple of minutes of extra footage restored in the film. (go buy it! it's definitely worth it)
But about MBV3D I think that it is one of the best remakes to date so go see it in the theaters I don't think you will be disappointed. Oh and by the way it had everything a newer/remake movie stereotype in the film. A hand full of nudity and plenty of gore)

Now back to your regularly scheduled blog, and if you forgot Next week: A Clockwork Orange

Did you notice a sign out in front of my house that said Dead Nigger Storage?

This week I had the privilege of seeing Pulp Fiction on the big screen and it was an extremely enjoyable experience, except for the last ten to fifteen minutes which was cut off and I didn't get to see. Well actually that's what I watched when I got home. Lets get straight to the trailer for this week ...

And yes it is Amélie again.

To start out this was the first Quentin Tarantino movie I had ever seen, and after seeing it I had immediately fell in love with his movies. I was an instant fan of the fast talking dialog heavy director. All of his movies have a vintage feel to them even though they all take place in the present day that they were made. They all could take place in the 70's exept for the use of cell phone in them. I really enjoy the soundrack for all of his movies, they all have a retro 70's soundtrack. I do enjoy Tarantino being in all of his movies always playing a small role but at the same time stealing the screen. He is one of the first directors that I had notice that he would cast a lot for the same actors in all of his movies. Okay now back to Pulp Fiction, the first time I had seen it I had no idea what was going on really, I just sat back and enjoyed the three stories that all
intertwine. I don't think the movie would have been as enjoyable if it wasn't edited the way it was and played out as one long story. and if you didn't know what it was about its basically The lives of two mob hit men, a boxer, a gangster's wife, and a pair of diner bandits intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption. (thanks IMDb) Alright lets get on with it and here are a couple of things that happened ...

The definition of Pulp.

The way your dad looked at it, this watch was your birthright. He'd be damned if any slopes gonna put their greasy yellow hands on his boy's birthright, so he hid it, in the one place he knew he could hide something: his ass. Five long years, he wore this watch up his ass. Then when he died of dysentery, he gave me the watch. I hid this uncomfortable piece of metal up my ass for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the watch to you.
Photobucket

This is why you shouldn't take a dump while you are waiting to kill someone.
Photobucket

One of the best ways to get some revenge.

YOU'RE THE MOTHERFUCKER WHO SHOULD BE ON BRAIN DETAIL! We're fuckin' switchin'! I'm washin' the windows, and you're pickin' up this nigger's skull!
Photobucket

You guys look like... What do they look like, Jimmie?
Photobucket
Dorks. They look like a couple of dorks.

Fuck, to be continued ...
Photobucket
This is where the film ended.

Now for next week they are playing The Rocky Horror Picture Show again so if you wanna hear about that here you go. So no update next week but after that in Two weeks: A Clockwork Orange

I am Jack's smirking revenge.

Just to start out Fight Club is probably one of my all time favorite movies. Having said that I never got to see it theatrically and didn't even see it until about three years after its release. So naturally I was extremely excited to see this on the big screen. Having to travel through icy conditions I go to the theater and it surprisingly filled up a good majority of the way. The only problem that I had with this showing was that the film was a little fucked up, the sound would cut out of Dolby and sound like crap for a minute a lot throughout the film and the film was pieced together badly. There was a piont in the movie where the film jumped ahead about fifteen minutes (for about 10 seconds) then went back, and the cock shot at end credits appeared to br edited out. (I'm not bitching just stating a fact) First lets start out with a trailer ...

Seriously they need to play this movie soon.

On to the feature presentation, if you didn't know what this movie was about here is a really brief description. An office employee and a soap salesman build a global organization to help vent male aggression. (Thanks IMDb)to start out this movie is very visually appealing, it nicely blends a mix of the actual film with zooming and sweeping CG shots. Not only that but David Fincher has a great eye for the grittiness and detail in this movie. I'm not sure that any one else would be able to capture everything in this movie as well as Fincher could. On to the story, if you actually pay attention th alot of the dialog you shold be able to tell that The Narrator and Tyler Durden are the same person. it was done is such a good way though that you actually never see either of them interact with anyone else at the same time, the other one of them is always in the background. Early on in the picture there is just a few flashes (single frames) of Tyler until The Narrator says "If you wake up at a different time in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?", thats when Tyler takes over and starts doing everything through
The Narrator. Enough with all of this jabbering, now lets get on with some interesting sceens ...

Four frames of Tyler
