Okay, you've got 30 of my fucking seconds. Thrill me.

I was surprised at the turnout for this movie last night, there was about thirty people. Which really surprised me because the weather was really bad (I almost died on the drive to the theater) and I didn't know that there was much of a following or love for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. It definitely won me over though, I mostly credit it to Robert Downey Jr.. The last maybe half dozen movies he has been in I have loved and I think he has been winning over a lot of people with his fast talking performances. But first lets get to the trailers we have all seen before ...

Yes it's Fight Club again ...

I really hope they are gonna play this soon.

And
Amélie again.

To start off I had no idea what tis movie was or about but I am definitely glad that I have seen it now because it was hilarious. Just to let everyone know what this movie is about, A petty thief posing as an actor is brought to Los Angeles for an unlikely audition and finds himself in the middle of a murder investigation along with his high school dream girl and a detective who's been training him for his upcoming role. (Thanks IMDb) When the opening credits started up the first thing that I thought of was that it reminds me of a Crime Drama, or like a old James Bond movie. I loved all of the smart littlt quips that were exchanged between Harry (Robert Downey Jr.) and Gay Perry (Val Kilmer). Yes Val Kilmer does play an aggressive gay man which I have never seen There was only a few little things that were a little over the top, like when Harry gets his finger cut off when the door gets slammed in his face and when the gun "magically" falls into his hand when he is hanging from the casket over the interstate. Those parts didn't bother me too much because they were definitely funny when they happened. The only thing that I wish would have been a little different would have been the ending, the feeling of it seemed like it just didn't fit in with the rest of the movie. But anyways here are a couple of interesting things that happened ...

Yes there is a Werewolf in this movie,
Photobucket
Well at least kinda.

Drunk action heroes are awesome.

A sweet beer commercial.
Photobucket

Yes he is pissing on a dead body.

Harry's finger.

The only verdict is vengeance, a vendetta, held as a votive not in vain.

As I stated in a previous post I believe it is hard to talk (or bitch) about something good, so this week is probably gonna be short and sweet. First off the crowd the last couple of weeks have been awesome (I am expecting that to change in a couple of weeks), I haven't wanted to kill anyone by the time the movie was over. I was really surprised by that especially because the crowd was packed for a movie that only came out a couple of years ago, V for Vendetta. But first ...

The first rule of Fight Club is ...

If you didn't know "
The futuristic tale unfolds in a Great Britain that's a fascist state. A freedom fighter known as V uses terrorist tactics to fight the oppressive society. He rescues a young woman from the secret police, and she becomes his unlikely ally." (thanks IMDb) If you really want to look into this movie you could see comparisons between the government in the movie and our own, not to talk or bitch about that that's all I'm gonna say. Like I stated earlier this is a great movie and everyone needs to see it. Oh yea and then this happened ...

This is an awesome flag, I want one.

Crying and getting her head shaved, am I the only one who thinks shes still hot?

V has a lot of free time.

One of the greatest movie "heroes" to to grace the silver screen.

People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people

I was told to tell you that you're a fascist pig.

Let's start with a Stanley Kubrick classic

Now an Angry Inch

and then lets get on the Short Bus

Alright lets get to the feature presentation and if you don't know it was Children of Men. When I first saw the commercials for this movie I thought it was just an up to date version of Logan's Run, and boy was I wrong. It is actually about a world where a disillusioned government agent agrees to help transport and protect a miraculously pregnant woman to a sanctuary at sea where her child's birth may help scientists to save the future of mankind. (thanks IMDb) When I first saw the commercials for this movie I was really excited to see it, but after seeing the trailer for it over the last couple of weeks I lost some interest in it. I was also wondering if it could compete withe the great movie I seen last week. I was just wrong about everything this weekend, everything about this movie was great. From the take on how immigration is now illegal and the immigrants are hunted down, to how run down and poverty stricken everything appears to be. The long running shots of action chasing Clive Owen while he is trying to find the baby in a war zone, and even the music. The way the movie was shot was astounding, there was so much detail in everything. Without focusing on certain scenery the view of what the world has become after an epidemic of that caliber is very believable.

Alright lets get on with it, the only thing that bothered me with this movie is Julianne Moore's character, she seemed really dry and didn't really have a lot of emotion behind her actions. There isn't any thing else wrong with it, I really couldn't wait for the something bad to happen to the resistance group that turned on Theo. Well anyways this happened ...

A pig baloon .... it's just awesome.
Photobucket

I've never seen anyone push start a car in a movie before.
Photobucket

Just a great long shot in the movie, where there is a complete conversation between the people on the right out of focus.
Photobucket

There is a deer in school.
Photobucket

Better watch out when squeezing out a door.
Photobucket

The blood on the camera lens actually added a lot to this scene.
Photobucket

The cries of a baby stopped the battle ...
Photobucket
at least temporarily.

No children. No future. No hope.

Care for a little necrophilia?

I have never seen any of Terry Gilliam's movies (except for Twelve Monkey) so I was a little intrigued to see Brazil. Having no idea what this movie was or about and after last weeks horrible experience I was a little afraid to go see this picture. Having said that I am so glad that I seen this movie and am now wondering how and why I haven't seen this movie yet. If you aren't able to tell I really enjoyed it, but first, here are some trailers.

Boogie Nights ... again

Next weeks movie

A weird trailer for a great movie

I wonder why there is no dialog in the trailer?

Now here is your feature presentation. Not really sure how to sum up the plot without bastardizing it so I just stole it from IMDb. A bureaucrat in a retro-future world tries to correct an administrative error and himself becomes an enemy of the state. Having said that there isn't much else to say about the movie except that this is an epic movie, all of the set pieces are huge and that the props are so detailed and awesome looking. I loved how the movie is very vague on what time period that it takes place in. Personally I seen this movie as a 50's steampunk noir film
/ dream acid trip, the reason I say that is because so many of the shots were huge and there were a ton of "electronics" in it but they were very basic and large. All the walls had huge tubes and wires running through them, all the computers were basically typewriters with small screens conected to them and the dream seqences were just surreal. The worst part about having to talk about a good movie is it is really hard without just telling you everything that happened so here are some cool sceens in the movie.

Coffee toast anyone?

Shoe Hats are the new style!

Dinner looks great ...
Photobucket

I love the one man car
Photobucket

Shit suits are always awesome

Un-Happy Halloween

This week was almost a mistake and waste of money. I left a burlesque show (that was more enjoyable than the movie) early to go see Poltergeist. When I got to the theater it was about a quarter full and everyone was chatting it up, which I don't mind before the movie or even during the previews. Well it didn't stop. The crowd seemed like it was full of 15 year old that were all hopped up on mountain dew. There jokes weren't funny at all and everyone else thought they were, they were also really loud and I could only understand about half of the dialog. Well enough with my bitching and lets get on with it.

First a Fight Club trailer

Now the Feature Presentation, but first a brief plot synopsis. Coach and his family are living in a new housing development and the next thing you know the ghosts of the people buried in the graveyard that the house is built on start to terrorize the family. I have never been a huge fan of this movie but I do like it, never been a fan of ghost movies in general. This movie is pretty basic and there isn't much to the story. There are a bunch of little parts of the movie that quite funny but are so short that they aren't worth mentioning. I know that there is a big controversy over who actually directed this movie, was it Tobe Hooper or Steven Spielberg and after watching it again it was definitely
Spielberg. Here's something ...

Why would you flush a bird?
Photobucket

There is no way I would have this creepy fucking tree in my backyard.
Photobucket

This reminds me of my parents.
Photobucket

Crazy acid trip?
Photobucket
Photobucket

The closet skull is awesome!
Photobucket

The house gave birth.
Photobucket

This house is clean.

Allegedly

Well that is it for this week, Next week: Brazil
